The Real Hero

Its the 15th of December, 2008 Monday, no way is this an important date. But the day eventually will become an important one for cricket worshippers. Final day of the 1st test of RBS Trophy test series between India and England at Chennai. After an unmerciful disaster by terrorists at Mumbai, the venue for test had been shifted to Chennai. At a very short notice, arrangements were made and a huge security had been put up at the ground, so that players and spectators feel they are pretty safe.

Indian fans and cricket lovers all over the world were very nervous and were keeping their fingers crossed, Will Indians chase 387 runs ? Sehwag gave an awesome start with a furious innings of 83(of 68 balls). This made the Indians chase 256 runs on the final day. Indian fans all over world prayed that India should get to the target and Tendulkar's fanatics prayed that their God of Cricket should make it happen.

Gambhir(on 41) and Dravid(on 2) started the final day. But Dravid's poor run continued and he went very soon. That brings in the Saviour, and Tendulkar is at the crease. Will he take India into Victory? Not only Tendulkar but all Cricket fans still remember the 1999 Chennai test against Pakistan. Tendulkar scored Century in spite of having a back injury. He returned to pavilion with India needing just 14 odd runs with 4 wickets in hand but still India lost. He looked sure that it should not be repeated this time. Same venue, but more enthusiasm because of the 20 years of experience at the international cricket. We can find that our saviour's (Sachin) enthusiasm has always been increasing. He is playing a steady innings to reach the target.

Gambhir and Laxman are also gone after some responsible innings. Now its the turn of Yuvraj at the crease. He was very confident against the English after some wonderful knocks in the One day series. But palying against spinners is still matter of concern for Yuvi. Sachin is boosting the confidence of Yuvi at the crease, so he is looking more comfortable in handling the English spinners. In spite of taking 40 tons in the test arena and 80 international tons Sachin is still hungry to get more. That's why, he is the Hero.

Sachin is playing a steady innings maintaining a strike rate around 50. By the time Sachin reaches 88, Yuvi got some quick runs and got to 81 with India needing just 19 runs with sufficient overs left out. Here comes 2 consecutive boundaries from Sachin and taking him into nineties. Now everyone started praying for India's victory and Sachin's Ton. Now Sachin is at 99 India still needing 4 runs to the victory. This time Sachin is sure that he wont reach the pavilion without achieving the target. Swann, the debutant bowling to the legend who is one run away from his 41st ton but the legend actually looking for 4 runs to make his country victorious. Sachin used to say in all his speeches, when his century makes India to victorious he would be more happy. So he want 4 runs more than taking the single.

Sachin just sweeps around the corner and what a wonderful shot it is. Even it reads the Sachin's mind it reaches the boundary, and here comes India's highest run chasing victory in India. Sachin gets his 41st test ton. Its the fourth highest run chase and the highest ever in sub continent. What a legendary match saving innings from Sachin Tendulkar. Chennai audience are very lucky to watch this superb innings. Everyone are enjoying, spectators in the ground are jumping over the sky. England players shaking hands with Yuvi and Sachin.

All over India people occupying in front of the TV show rooms, the people in front of their Television, professionals who halted their client work to see the little master's ton, students who bunked the classes to watch the match, all were cherishing on the victory. In the ground while Players exchanging hand shakes, even pitch workers came and gave a warm congrats to Sachin. On seeing this in his television, a boy from a place which you cant find even in a google map is flying towards the sky as he is seeing his real hero (his father) on the television. Ya, the guy who is wishing Sachin is his father who is working in the ground as a staff.

The guy who is cheering for his Hero's innings got more happy to see his real hero on the screen. That's it. For him his satisfaction is glowing like a flame after India's victory and Sachin's ton but his happiness is just like a spark, ya he was able to see this father for a second. But will never leave of from his heart. Because he can see Sachin scoring centuries in many future occasions but he may not see his father congratulating Sachin again. The boy himself says thousand thanks to Sachin not only for getting victory to India but also for accepting the wishes from his father. Else he wouldn't have been shown by the camera man. Now Sachin looks like a God to that boy for showing his real hero on TV. Because for everyone of us our Father is our first hero.

Hats off to Sachin and Men in blue for achieving a huge victory. You make us proud. Now winning became our habit. Let it continue. All the very best.

I just tried to present this blog in a different perspective.
Thanks for reading my blog.

the real hero's are the england cricket team players. these players who had cancelled their tour and went back to their den in wake of the terror attack, came back to play in this terror prone land to keep the spirit of cricket alive.

may be they could ve lost the test match against india in chennai, but fighting till the lost moment without abstaining from playing, shows the spirit of a true cricketer.

jus think of wat shame v ld had to bear if someone says he is afraid to come to this culture rich country sighting security reasons.

My hats off to pieterson's team.

Sachin Rocks... Every mention of the little master's name instills confidence in each of the spectators hearts that the match could always be won with sachin..

Even then, sadly Sachin has been in the doubtful eyes of the media. Every time before a series starts, there are several headlines in major news paper-Whether Sachin can prove his worth?...

He doesn't need to prove to anyone what he is.. With 40 ODI centuries and 41 Test centuries, he has done which no other player has achieved..Yet he is always in the eyes of the Hawk's Talons..

The media pound on his flesh as vultures if he doesn't score or hail him as a God if he does.. What do you think?-Barath
